This first book of the Montora series introduces us to the Nyman family – independent merchants who get dragged against their will into the political maelstrom. The implosion of the cultures, economies and fortunes of this human inhabited galactic sector is something everyone fears, and no one seems to know how to counter.

This was not the book I was expecting (whatever that was) but I enjoyed it. A story of commerce and intrigue set on a planet in the far future, reminding us that human nature probably won't change that much if we ever make it to the stars.In the first half of the book, some of the descriptions seemed a little slow as I read them, as well as some of the conversations that established the characters. As I read, though, not only did the story pick up the pace, I realized those earlier passages had subtly made the characters and situations seem very real.
Now, I'd kind of like to go skiing in Montora. But if I do, I'm packing heat!

What a fun novel to read! Great character development. An easy going and exciting plot. An enjoyable novel. Full of suprises.
I quite enjoyed all three of the Montora series books Mr. Wagher has written so far. I feel like the story is well-conceived, the characters are likeable, and the universe is believable.
I've not read Christian fiction before. I quite enjoyed it. Mr. Wagher's theology seems sound to me, and it's interesting to see how he's extrapolated that theology to accommodate space travel and alien races.
The only down side is that the books could use a bit more editing. There are plenty of typos and a few grammatical errors, but I enjoyed reading them nonetheless. Looking forward to Christmas in Montora!
